Thursday October 28

The Halloween spirit was alive and well in our classroom today!  It was a bit of a  challenge to stay focused on our learning this morning with the anticipation of the afternoon's festivities.

We started the morning with Music with Mrs. Jones.  We were excited to perform the Mummy song for Mrs. Zwack!

We then worked through two rounds of Daily 5 including a focus on handwriting the letters j and p.

Following snack and read aloud, we aimed to finish up our Election Visual Journal page and are almost there!

Jacket Racket is still in need of donations of hats, mittens, scarves, coats, ski pants and boots!  Please take a look to see if you have anything that you might be willing to donate.

Well our Halloween celebrations were a blast!  We planned the afternoon all based on Halloween. We started reading the book  Tell Me a Scary Story... but Not too Scary a Story by Carl Reiner.
This is a great story to get us in the mood for Halloween.  The story is about a man named Mr. Neewollah.  It really kept us on the edge of our seats.

We then voted on which Halloween Movie we would like to watch while we had our Halloween snacks.  Through the voting process we decided on Monster House.

In Math, we did a math problem around buying Halloween Treats.  We had to figure our how many juice pouches we would need to buy.  We also then needed to figure out how many we had left after a snowy, cold Halloween with lots of leftovers.  Luckily, we could use the leftover juide boxes for lunches at school.  We figured out how many weeks of juice we had.

Then the pizza arrived!   It was delicious.  Thanks to everyone for helping us win the pizza prize by selling so many entertainment books.  We munched on pizza, cupcakes, candies, popcorn and cookies.  Thank you everyone for making today  "The best day at school ever!" said Miller.
